Just one drawing this week, a lazy afternoon with Deedee and her cat Parfait.

I probably won’t being sending out another newsletter for a couple weeks after this one, as I’m leaving for a vacation in Japan with my family. I’ve sadly never been much of a travel sketcher, I am full of admiration for people who are able to make the time and headspace for it and fill sketchbooks with gorgeous drawings of scenery. But I always take plenty of photos specifically to use as drawing reference later (e.g. the same appealing drainpipe/rooftop/floor tile/teacup/etc from five different angles), and once I’m home I marinate in the residual energy from my travels, so I always get some good art out of traveling one way or another.
